Al has worked in the events industry for 15 years in varied roles from laying dance floors to erecting marquees. He started Lightning with Tom to combine his design expertise, events experience and organisational skills in a young, innovative company. Al is in charge of operations for the business and oversees the smooth running of our logistics and warehouse.
Initially an expert in lighting, Tom’s path to Lightning was carved from an interest in theatre work while still at school. His confinement to the wings of the stage were short-lived. Not long after leaving school he sought a more stimulating, varied and creative role in the events industry. After founding the company with Al in 2008, his knowledge broadened along with his horizons. On his annual day off, Tom can be found celebrating Christmas with his family.
Georgie, aka 'G Dawg,' joined Lightning in 2017 from a background in Fashion, prior to which she assisted with events at Condé Nast. She is now responsible for Client Relations and Marketing. With a Modern Languages degree from Durham, Georgie enjoys being able to liaise with suppliers when working on events abroad.
Rory is our Production Designer. From an art and design focussed background with a BA in Creative Advertising from UAL, he works on coming up with ideas and pitches for our projects, ranging from colour schemes, to party ideas, to floorplans, to logos. When he isn't overseeing an event, knocking up a sketch or preparing some slides for a pitch, he's watching a sci-fi film, or feeding his chocolate and/or caffeine addiction.
Born in Jamaica and raised in London, Sim started with us as an HGV driver. Ever since he arrived, we haven’t been able to get him to leave. With a variety of a variety of related experience - most notably in heavy machinery, electrics and lighting - his positive attitude, hands-on approach and infectious laughter make him a crucial member of the team.
Bramble is our in - house canine companion. With a degree in being generally a bit nuts and experience in sliding along the corridor when she gets over excited, she's a key member of the Lightning team. She’s also great at maintaining relationships with anyone who visits the office. When she’s awake, that is.
